Questions
About our prices
Where do your cost ranges come from?
From public data and published sources: federal labor statistics for trade wages, manufacturer price lists and announced increases, energy price data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, and national cost studies. Every guide lists its sources at the end.
Are these prices quotes?
No. They are 2026 planning ranges for the United States. Your local price depends on your home, your area and the contractor. Use our ranges to check a written quote, not to replace one.
How often are prices updated?
Guides show a last updated date. We review prices at least once a year and whenever a major change happens, such as a tax credit ending, a refrigerant rule or a round of manufacturer price increases.
Do contractors pay to be listed or recommended?
No. We do not sell leads or accept payment to rank contractors or products. Ads are shown by ad networks and kept separate from editorial content.
